Esoteric Hooks

So a friend of mine wants to do the archive to hook x people on esoteric hooks and she cant get it done. I thought that esoteric hooks are all hooks except basement, bc these are the ones that give you void energy. So when i did the challenge i didnt even think about it, bc i though hooking people in general is enough, and i got the challenge after my first match. But now she asked me, what esoteric hooks are, because she does not get the challenge done.

She tried basement, she tried non-basment and she does not use scourge hooks, because i suggested to try without in case SH are buggy. She even used the event offering.

Is the challenge just buggy or is there something we are missing?

I think it is just bugged, I played a match normally and got it done. Plus it is not that uncommon to see a bugged challenge in DbD, it happens quite often.
