Would you change map offerings, and if so, how?

To start with, allow me to justify why I believe map offerings need to be changed.

RNG is important in DBD. When you remove randomness in map selection only for one side, then that side gets to completely cater their build(s) towards that map and gain a massive advantage right off the bat. This is especially a problem on the killer side of things because in a SWF setting you have not just one enemy who does this, but now potentially 4 players all planning on going to a specific map with specific perks that are great on said map. 4 survivors running Balanced Landing are relatively inoffensive, but 4 survivors running Balanced Landing and Circle of Healing on Eyrie of Crows is hell.

Personally, I think map offerings should be entirely replaced, instead becoming a map veto. If you play this offering you are guaranteed to not get the map you play it for. This retains that core sense of RNG that keeps you on your toes while also still giving you some sense of agency, because at least you know now you absolutely can't get that one map you really don't want to play. BHVR could also use this as a way of judging what maps may be in need of a rework in the case that specific maps get vetoed far more often than others.

What do you think? Should map offerings be changed, and how would you do it? I've heard a lot of different suggestions in the past, but I'm curious as to what the general consensus would be.

I'd change them to deny the associated realm's appearance and also add map offerings for indoor and outdoor maps

I think they should bring back the YELLOW map offerings and get rid of the green ones.

I've said this a few times now when it comes to map offerings.

First add a great height to all maps OR remove the "fall from great height" challenges.

Second make it so the whatever realm the players had in their last match is guaranteed to not be an option for their next match to stop back to back matches in the same realm.

Once those two changes are made they can then make map offerings guarantee you won't be sent to a map instead of increasing your odds to go to a map. Then change the sacrificial ward to cancel map vetos. There's like 20 realms, can have 10 removed from the selection from match to match.

This would work but with a small change. If you use the yellow offering it wont be consumed if someone else uses theirs. That way it guarantees that you will end up using it. But it will be more rare.

Either remove them all or make sacrifical wards a brown offering

Map offerings are cool in the sandbox sense, you make a fun build and you wanna use a specific map to compliment it like jumpscare myers or if you want to use a certain map for a challenge

But unfortunately those use cases are vastly outweighed by people simply abusing the maps that favour their role/killer. There's a reason survivors typically burn coldwind/autohaven/ormond and so on and killers will mostly burn maps like midwich.

I can't stand the idea of removing map offerings or turning them into a veto system. That's sucking all the fun out of the game, reducing options and playstyles. Everyone complains about the game getting too competitive, and then you go and suggest stuff like this. No map is so broken that you can't win on it as either role, most people just need to get over their gripes with maps and learn to play with whatever they get.

That said, I do have suggestions:

    1. Killers should be able to use the map offerings we currently have. They have one offering against four so it should carry more weight, and they are the agent of the entity after all. Using their offering to supplement their build/playstyle is not unreasonable. This allows builds like Mirror Myers, and just Ghost Face in general, to remain viable. The really sweaty/annoying killers all play Nurse, Blight, Bubba and Wesker anyway, it doesn't matter what map they get they're not going to struggle.
    2. Survivors gain access to yellow map offerings, which increase the likelihood of going to a specific realm by 25% or 30%. There's four of them, if they really want to make sure they go there they can stack 3 or 4 of the same offering. This way if there is a significantly survivor sided map at any time in the games life, it's significantly more costly for a bully squad to send the killer there.
    3. All map offerings including sacrificial wards should be hidden, just like mori's and shrouds. So people don't know whether or not they ended up on a map through RNG or via an offering, and they can't complain. Just as you don't know if you go against a SWF.

I feel like they could remove map offerings and maybe add in a vote or map pick for the killer. I still feel like surivors being able to pick the map over the killer makes it a bit op as some killers just cant play certain maps well at all.

It's not a matter of whether the game is competitive or not, it's the fact that someone guaranteeing a specific map with a specific build/character that is really strong on that map is just not fun for the people on the other side of it. Imagine if every game you got sent to Midwich as a solo survivor, or every game you got sent to Eyrie, Garden, Badham, etc. as killer. The existence of map offerings as they are can make an entire session unfun depending on your luck.

I've had streaks up to 6-8 games straight of nothing but map offerings some days, and it just kills the fun having to claw my way up from the trenches every game when it happens.

As a Blight main I could make every game a living hell if I wanted, so long as I picked only small maps with Infectious Fright. Now imagine exactly that, but also throw in Iri Tag or Alchemist's Ring and you have a free win that completely maximizes survivor pain in that game. Why don't I do that? Because I hate when survivors do the same thing to me.

I would simply delete the map offerings so that the RNG takes back its original rights

    Remove them entirely.

They add nothing positive to the game apart from jumpscare Myers.

Yes. Map offerings should have a 50% chance of going to the selected realm. That way it's not guaranteed.
