Midwich Secret chest can't be opened

Last night in a public match, my team completed the right gens and started EGC. The clock tower door opened, but I couldn't open the chest. I would press M1 to start the interaction, but the chest opening animation would immediately cancel and push me backwards. As well, it looked like there was some invisible collision in front of the chest, as I run into the doorway for a moment while trying to open the chest and keep being pushed backwards.
