Darkness Revealed Bug - Loud Noise Notif for Dull Totems
I noticed that I would occasionally random loud notifications and when I checked on it, there was a broken totem. I don't generally run Hexes and it's always a normal notification, not the mapwide boom that happens when a Hex is broken.
So I jumped into a custom match and did some testing. I tested on 2 different maps, Thompson House and Garden of Joy, with 2 different killers (Huntress and Trapper) and 2 different survivors (Meg and Bill) This is obviously not an extensive list of all combinations but the jumble of different characters and maps made me confident that it's linked to the perk and not other factors. Also the fact that I noticed this in live games with a random assortment of survivors and maps.
To start, I was running my normal build of Bitter Murmur, BBQ and Chili, Darkness Revealed, and Lethal Pursuer. I tested with zero perks and each of my normal perks 1 by 1 and discovered that it seems to be linked to Darkness Revealed as no perks and the other 3 did not trigger a loud noise notification.
Next I tested killer and survivor and map combos and found they all seemed to trigger the bug, so it's likely just the perk.
Finally I tested if it always gives the notification or is Cooldown or Proximity to lockers mattered.
Conclusion: Proximity to lockers (the aura reading range) DOES NOT matter. Darkness Revealed being on Cooldown DOES matter, you will NOT see the loud notification if it's on CD. Killer proximity to survivor DOES seem to matter, you will not see the notification if you are fairly close to the survivor (but still through 2 walls)
Step 1: Run Darkness Revealed.
Step 2: Have survivor break a dull totem a good distance away from killer.
Step 3: See Loud Noise notification where totem was broken if Darkness Revealed is off cooldown.
Easily replicable, aside from the distance issue, I cannot easily pinpoint at what distance is too close for the killer to be notified.
Characters: Trapper, Huntress, Meg, Bill (Seemingly unrelated)
Maps: Thompson House, Garden of Joy (Seemingly unrelated)
Platform of killer Steam, platform of survivor Epic Games.
