(Killer) Bugged Snowmen?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong and this is entirely on me, but no one I know seems to have answers so here goes nothing. I play on Steam with an Xbox controller and when I enter a snowman, I see the frosted visual overlay (for lack of a better term) and then it disappears after a few seconds. I've held the button down when I enter, have stood still, it doesn't matter. When I'm in the snowman, I never get a prompt to pop it, it just dissolves a few seconds later. I've tried this on both Dredge and Hag, it makes no difference. Can someone please help? I'd like to enjoy the holiday fun like everyone else.
