Is anyone else having an issue where they are unable to join their friends lobby? They also can't join yours?

I do have this problem occasionally on Steam though usually at least one person is able to join the other one. If really both can’t join, restarting the game always solves the problem for us..
we thought it might be because of Steam online status - though it seems to be a problem independent of that..
