The video in question has a huge problem and that is the comparisons it makes to other games.
It talks about CoD and how the best gun can be got in a day, however CoD releases a new game every year or so. £60 vs £6-10 every 3 months with deals often. So they come out to the same pricing.
The best comparison I could make would be to R6 which has character that take 40+ hours to get one and sure they don't have characters that require you to pay money to unlock but they also don't get the privilege of having their fav character from similar genres in their game.

For the majority of killers, yes it is. At least Eruption and Call of Brine

Eh...depends how hard you want to chase the ever-moving target of killer meta.
That said - 2 killer/survivor combo packs costs the same as a burger and fries. Cosmetics are expensive, but you can earn a ton of awesome ones via events and rifts. The premium rift pass is completely refunded if you finish it.
To me, this has always been a nontroversy. DbD has given me over 1,000 hours of gameplay and I've likely spent maybe $150 on it over 3 years - and that's with me buying a few skins. No matter how you slice it, that's pretty damn good value.
