Nerf all maps

Map design is the worst part of dbd. God windows, hook deadzones, Strong loops connected to strong loops. Terrible maps are the reason killers camp and tunnel. Why would a killer go for 12 hooks on badham? They wouldn’t. Certain maps incentivize camping and tunneling. I know the DBD devs don’t care, but maps should seriously be reworked. If not, have fun dealing with survivors complaining about camping and tunneling forever. Im sure that will be fun :).

Yep, most maps are awful for killer. I just wish the devs would dedicate more time to balancing them; there's probably only like, 4 maps that are killer-sided off the top of my head, compared to other 20+ survivor sided ones.

but some other maps also have dead zones , idk how they plan to fix that too....have you ever got a BAD rng on red forest / autohaven / and even worse shelter woods .. is pretty wild .....for killer , for survivors if someone wasted the only pallet at one side of the map that area becomes useless and even worst if there is gen there .... like really HOW bhvr didnt even add the powerful Z walls to the corner of the map atleast soo we can exceally play the game instead of:

*I am dead just because there is no pallet or windows in this 28 meter area* moment

Oh, thank you for saying this. The game has been sending me to this map a lot and I've struggled so much on this map. For a bit, I just chalked it up to me being bad (which I admit I am), but man does that map cause me to get angry. I'll take pallet city meat packing map over that. Don't get me started with how almost all totem spawns are like little light houses that are so easy to spot.

    Smaller maps? Ok

But remove bloodlust and make every killer be a 4.4

Not to mention, the changes people request most often are also a direct buff to tunneling.

Making maps smaller, removing resources for survivors, and 'not having chainable tiles' (aka: create more dead zones) all make it easier to tunnel someone off hook too.

  • If they nerf maps they would need to nerf bloodlust or nerf gen times or else survivors could never stall killers long enough to get any gens done.

Also I don't think maps are a reason people camp/tunnel. Some say old BBQ incentivized less camping/tunneling. People are going to camp/tunnel for any reason.

The exit gate locations need to be reworked as well on all maps. They are too close to each other and nearly impossible to escape from in end game without having Sole Survivor (50% gate opening speed boost).

    1. As far as maps being the reason Killers tunnel and camp, that was said prior about gens speed. 6.1 happened and camping and tunneling is as bad as ever. Killers will still tunnel because half of them want lame win streaks and tunneling is the easy road to take.
    2. Get rid of maps and really see how the only skillful role in this game at that point is Survivor. And the game is not going to be beginner friendly at all; you're not going to get new players. I know people who started but don't stay around because it's too hard and too sweaty. Take maps away from Survivors, you're only going to get SWF.
    3. Maps are something that should favor Survivors as long as full regression builds are still part of the game and tunneling and camping is so easy to do. Survivors need something for balance besides Discord.

Add map size to those issues as well, huge issue. Like 70-80% of the maps could use between a 15-30% shrink in size depending which ones. M1 killers just have no way to properly pressure many of these larger maps.

Every map should be around Coal Tower size, that's a balanced map size.

It's hard to feel like map design is improving when we just got Borgo...a map that epitomizes everything wrong with map design currently. Huge map, lots of overly safe tiles, chain them together, throw in too many pallets, and finally make it an extremely open layout where you can see the killer a mile away which further encourages lots of hold w game play.

That's actually not a counter argument because gens are flying just as fast after that update. I feel like you think that update was way more significant for slowing gens down than it actually was. It barely did anything.

Full regression builds/camping/tunneling are a thing because of bad map design. If we fix maps we can fix slow down perks, camping, and tunneling. These things you don't like ( i don't either btw), are a symptom of a problem (map design), not the sickness itself.

100%, poor map design is on par with MMR why killers choose to tunnel and camp. Since MMR says the only win is a kill, tunnelling just makes sense. But if the map has so many tiles with safe pallets, why go for chases?

I don't remember the streamer but like 3 years ago I saw a video which i still agree with. In the video, it was proposed to just remove all the safe tiles and redesign them to be close to a 50/50 mind game. This would mean smaller tiles but then the maps could have more tiles like this. This type of map idea makes the most sense to me if we want better chases for both sides.

Also some basic logic being added for the tile spawns would go a long way. Such as jungle gym tiles can't spawn with the window facing another strong tile such as the killer shack. That's just common sense.

Bro whenever they added the new tiles they ruined auto haven. Pallets fail to spawn and that terrible new tile exists. I know for a fact that wretched shop has just failed to spawn any pallets around main building for a couple months now. I always considered auto haven and MacMillan the most overall balanced realms until then.

Full regression, tunneling and maps are all boring and unskilled though. I feel you underestimate how many heavily survivor sided maps there are though. Probably like 8-10.
