Please note: Although we may stop by occasionally, this is not a developer Q&A.
We have temporarily disabled The Houndmaster (Bone Chill Event queue) and Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater Cosmetic (all queues) due to issues affecting gameplay.

Crouching injured survivors will make less noise, I heard, but what does that exactly mean?

Does the range from which you can be heard gets reduced, or is the volume of injured noises made quieter?

Both the range and the noise itself are lowered, the only time this effect does not apply (at least apply normally) is with certain perks such as Iron Will and No Mither, since they apply the reduced audio in a different way.
I tested this awhile back with some friends in a Custom Match.
