Another look at gen speed now that...
After this new survivor HUD update, survivor productivity has went through the roof, now survivors know exactly when to be working on a gen, as in, when it's safe to just plow through going from gen to gen without a worry.
This isn't really a bad thing, in fact, i think the survivor HUD was a much needed boost solo players desperately needed, however, now survivor hesitation has been almost completely lifted, gens have seemed to be going by noticeably quicker, which is a logical consequence of the update.
I wonder if it's time for a perm second object of some form, which is what i'd prefer as gens are boring as it is at times, or is it time to look at gen speeds, please, your thoughts about this.

Gens are exactly going as they always should have been, the problem was before, where they were not touched at all

I still think maps are the problem , not survivors , not gen speeds , like doesnt matter how much you nerf or buff the gens speed that doesnt change the fact that depending which RNG you get on some maps you can easily stomp the survivor or VICEVERSA
but if we are honest most of the maps had a higher change to spawn god setups connected into each others + there is some maps insanely bigger like Red forest were by default without corrup intervention or a killer with high mobility you are forced to let go 1 gen every single time...
as survivor i think nobody likes the weaker tiles that they added to autohaven , it literally makes the map RNG depending which is bad because on those tiles there is no mindgame on them you just wait until they drop the pallet and you secure a free hit...
Problems with DBD IMO:
-Nurse making impossible to balance maps perfectly since she can noclip into stuff and make smaller maps miserable to go against.
-the overall map design: like garden of pain
-RNG can either favor the killer or survivor pretty hardly on some maps.
-still not having an early game mechanic (for the love of god BHVR just make corrup basekit for 16 seconds)
that would help a lot for many maps in this game..walking 1 minute on red forest to just reach to a gen is stupid for m1 killers.

I still usually have at least 1 person on the team not touching gens. Often they're just searching chests and messing with totems. They sometimes get to the end without having been hooked once. Those sorts of players, nothing will make more productive members of the team.

Well,
A good survivor thats intending on working WITH the team and not for themselves is going to plow gens once they see someone is chased.
Your Megs and Claudette's will still leave you for dead

And that's clearly a Player issue not a game issue so clearly giving all players free stuff is not the right move to make survivors play as a team. IT's 1v1v1v1v1... Survivors are as much detrimental to each other as the killer is to survivors. Except Knight, screw Knight and his Flawless Facecamping...Pretty good job BHVR...

Fair points, maps might be a problem i can see that.
i think an optional secondary objective might help though, challenges are okay but they can just happen naturally while playing except the glyph, i'd prefer something that perhaps affects the trial or somehow changes the flow, tbh sometimes it feels stale playing, resulting in resorting to randomizor builds, meme builds, make your own fun kind of stuff

I think they went with the current form of Corrupt Intervention over any basekit option to discourage the killer from spawning in, spinning about, and immediately picking their 3-gen to defend only. With the rise of that strat since the CI perk change, I can see what might have influenced them.
Then there's a certain map or two that if you don't set up that 3-gen immediately against 4 good survs you'll need Nurse or Blight or Spirit to have a fighting chance. This should never be the case in any map, and I hope that gets looked into soon.

but either way they can just hide the auras of the blocked generators if the killer isnt running corrupt...

I don't care for the Hud change, it removes so much of the unknown and info perks now feel like wasted slots or just unnecessary.
Would love to see an objective to lengthen these short matches.

Its not about the maps. it is simply the gen speed to chase ratio. It is actually more expensive, in terms of time, for a killer to injure a single survivor, than it is for that survivor to get healed. And that's not even accounting for the fact that there are 4 survivors, that is just in raw number of seconds.
The reality is, simply holding w, not using pallets, windows, mindgames, perks, dead hard, nothing. A survivor should be able to at minimum, by just holding w, waste 54 seconds of a killer's time. Now when you factor in even a single pallet, which (if it is one the killer has to break) it will add an additional 17 seconds to that time. It simply isn't enough to just win a mindgame, when you can just predrop every pallet and run a killer for 5 gens, and then if they abandon chase, you heal faster than it took for them to earn that hit.
And sure, not every pallet is a god pallet, but all it takes is 1, a decent survivor that can recognize this, and 3 other survivors who actually do gens, to lose 3 gens. And you simply can't abandon the chase, because then you reset the clock, and now that survivor can hop on a gen. You simply do not have the time to spread the pressure in the early game, the first chase is almost always guaranteed to lose 2-3 gens, and then the entire game you are playing this crazy catch up game, where if you make a single mistake, you lose, while the survivors can make several (dead hard) and not bat an eye.

I mean... yea we all know that it's fast
1) Perks
2) Maps
3) Survivors alive
Have something to do with it

NGL though, I've actually unequipped Kindred for the first time in 2 years and it feels good

I wouldn't be opposed to that idea

Playing without slowdown now almost guarantees a loss as a killer. That's not a nice feeling. They will have to something because the current game speed just outpaces half the killer roaster by default.
1 -
Accurate. For most M1 killers, gen slowdowns are REQUIRED perks. There shouldn't be any required perks.
3 -
The problem is that you can't buff m1 killers as long as Nurse and Blight around.
0 -
You can, actually. Nurse wouldn't benefit from Trapper starting with 3 traps and a second ability. You just can't do another 6.1.0. What we need now are more specific killer buffs. That means looking at the killers that are currently underperforming in one way or another, finding the reasons why they can't keep up (mostly lack of mobility and power in chase) and adress these issues for each killer.
Some killers need reworks (i.e. Trapper, Freddy), others a few buffs (i.e. Clown, Wraith) and others again only need a few QoL improvements (i.e. Billy, Twins).
