Remove skill checks from self-care
Removing skill checks from self-care would be much welcome and it wouldn't affect the current state of the perk all that much.
With the perk taking 45s or 54s against mangled and thus becoming a boring action, removing the skill checks would reduce the negative impact on fun by allowing players to grab a cup of water, go to the bathroom or watch some YT shorts while they wait for the action to be completed.

Think of TV/movie scenes where the injured person has to reset a portruding bone or stitch themselves up. The hardest part is STARTING. They have to pysche themselves up beforehand. Once they get going, they're fine.
Self Care should have 1 difficult skill check at the start. Failing it disables Self Care for some time. After passing it, future skill checks will be Autodidact level of difficulty until you stop healing. The skill checks are there, but not impossibe vs Coulrophobia.
Self Care already punishes survivors by taking a very long time; it should not be further punished by Coulrophobia (which would still affect the first Self Care skillcheck anyway).

making a small exception for hook skill checks and wiggle skill checks as they’re slightly different and do not fall under the same category and are unaffected by perks or powers.

but then we gotta buff/change everything built on the assumption that self healing has skill checks.
unnerving presence, clown phobia, autodidact, freddy’s skillcheck failure wakeup, bots that ignore skill checks, etc.

guys, this is obviously not serious. The joke is that Self-Care is so laughably slow that you have time to click M1 in a corner and then go take a bathroom break

I'm not talking about self-healing (like from a medkit or COH), I'm talking specifically about self-care and yes, this is a serious suggestion. The perk would be much less boring without skill checks.

You know that this would actually nerf the perk even more, right? Every successful skill check saves you a bit of time after all. Your suggestion would also nerf possible synergy with other perks.
That would come as a nerf to Coulrophobia as well. Wouldn't change much, since nobody runs Coulrophobia but still...
