The Skull Merchant's drones shouldn't scan through floors

Currently, The Skull Merchants drones are able to scan through floors and ceilings and apply lock-on. Because some indoor maps trade overall size for multiple floors, like RCPD, Midwich, and The Game, this makes drones much stronger in terms of its field of view. Unfortunately, this also means that it's possible for survivors to get scanned and locked on by a drone that is literally out of their reach. Though the drone won't see survivors below or above it while in its inactive state, The Skull Merchant can just reactivate it manually and continue to apply pressure to an area that the drone isn't even in. Active drone above the generator you want to fix? Well, you have two options: Repair it anyway and likely get destroyed by an undetectable Ghostface wannabe, or leave the generator, find a staircase that goes up, run back to the area above the generator, disarm the drone, obtain a sick wristband that makes it impossible to hide, run all the way back down to the generator you wanted to repair, and get interrupted by the killer because they GPS'd your sick wristband. Oh, and she can just set the drone right back up again. This isn't fun to deal with. Make it so drones only scan the floor it's on.

I also don't understand why the developers didn't fix it like with a knight where his guards only attack from visual contact and not from the area. So what needs to be done so that the drone scans only in its area or better from visual contact, since playing in a triangle of 3 generators is not possible even without regression perks
