Crashing just before menus after most recent update

I use steam on PC

Ever since the skull merchant update my game will not open further than the loading screen just before the main menus.

I start DBD up normally, it loads fine, plays the cutscene, gets to the loading menu requiring you to press spacebar to continue, loads fine until it gets to the normal logo loading screen and then crashes.

I meet all system requirements and was able to play before the Skull Merchant update.

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling, verifying the files, opening the application from the files, skipping the cutscene and not touching anything to let it load but nothing has worked.

Here is the crash report I receive:

This seems to be a bug on DBD's side as I've seen multiple people have issues with start up crashing on Steam after the most recent update. The most recent patch has not fixed this bug either.
