A Proposal To Enhance DBD and Improve Balance

Purpose: The desire of anyone playing games is to have fun while maintaining the opportunity to win. It's nice to get a 4K or a 4-Man escape, but it is agonizing to be the victim of either of those. This proposal seeks to balance each game in game.

General idea/Lore: The Entity, in its thirst for violence and entertainment, is driven to ensure he gets maximum enjoyment for each trial, causing maximum pain and carnage. During the game, he's tracking to see if anyone gains too much of an advantage. If they are, he'll step in. Each time a generator reaches 90% progress without a hook, the entity slows the generator. If two generators are completed before the Killer has a hook, all generators become Locked (think Pinhead's box). The survivors now have to seek out the key to gain access to future generators. The Locked status is removed if a Killer obtains a hook state. But the Entity doesn't want his fun to end. If a killer has 8 hooks or 1 kill before any generators are completed, generator progress is increased significantly. The trial is no fun for the Entity if everyone dies too quickly!

This is just a general premise. There could be more to this. I've thought about making it so the doors automatically power if two people are killed (DBD's goal of 2 people dead has already been met.) The resulting Edgame process allows for the Killer to have a chance to get a win (third kill or more). Conversely, if 4 gens are powered before the Killer has ANY kills, the next Hook will be an immediate death regardless of hook states.

Additional thigs I would test ALONG with this mechanic:

1st (This is a MUST) It MUST be impossible to camp and tunnel. Killers can not, nor should not, be allowed to to camp a guy out for speed. (two ideas: A) Immediately upon hooking a survivor, the killer is automatically teleportated to the highest progressed generator (so he can pressure that gen and be rewarded for his hook) He could even snowball. B) As a survivor is on the hook, if a killer is within a certain radius, the survivor's odds to pull himself/herself off the hook will increase to 100%.)

2nd Eliminate tunneling and slugging. (Base kit borrowed needs a rework. Maybe introduce an "immune" status. An newly unhooked survivor CANNOT be put into the dying state until another individual is hooked. This is just an idea, but the point is to prevent tunneling).

The argument is "If I didn't 'HAVE' to camp, tunnel, or slug, I wouldn't. Give me stronger Killers!" I don't buy it. A person wanting a 4K 5-Gen is absolutely going to do whatever they can to ensrue that. A killer feeling the "need" to camp and tunnel will. This must be removed from the game.

3). (ALONGSIDE this idea!) Generators should take a minimum base of 180 seconds solo. That would be 90 seconds with 2 people. And much less for prove thyself and/or tool boxes.

These two must be done together. The killer must be buffed (through this increase of gen speed) to allow him/her to have chases. However, this buff can't happen without making it impossible to abuse this ability by camping out a survivor.

Those are suggestions my brother and I have come up with while playing. I only have about 4.5K hours, but I want every game to be close. I want every game (regarldess of MMR) to give BOTH the killer and the survivor a chance. Yes, Blood Warden No Way Out helps the killer, but there are ways to play around those perks. Yes, SWF might be able to find a way to get out, but MAN it would be hard. I actually want to eliminate BOTH 4-man Escapes AND 4Ks. Someone SHOULD DIE (at least one). Someone SHOULD escape (AT LEAST 1). There are other ways around this. People could discuss this platform and come up with potential issues AND solutions. But that is my goal.

What at about a guy who just sort of hides around the map. First off, that guy is already out there. But what about this. Any survivor who fails to work on a gen or perform an unhook for 180s becomes "trapped." The entity reaches up and grabbs him, causing him to shout. This will punish those people who aren't doing anything.

I submit this for consideration.
