How about some love for Spies From the Shadows

It's an OG pick that has been on the back burner for years. Despite that it still remains a favorite of mine. Could you make it an aura reading perk instead of a noise notification? With gen regression constantly getting nerfed I don't see why we couldn't get some large buffs to information perks, especially niche ones.

Aura reading would be a nerf, because a sound notification lets you know to look around for the crow symbol.

I would be down for both.

Make it map wide, 2 second aura read instead of a notification. Now it's decent.

I don't know if it's just me but I have on average two distortions per game now so I would be down for it to be a aura read but as a addition not as a rework.

The only problem I have with sfts is it's inconsistency on multistorey maps. If they could fix that I would run it more often.

Survivors would probably complain if it did both, and then BHVR would probably respond by nerfing the overnerfing the perk so it's worse than it currently is.

Probably implies that there are survivor mains that wouldn't complain about it.

I don't see why they'd need to. The problems both sides are complaining about are related to either gen regression mechanics from survivors or healing speed from killers. An information perk shouldn't upset anything, especially not one that's reliant on disturbing crows which would have inconsistent coverage. I could see it being like an alternative to I'm All Ears. Crow gets disturbed, notification pops, and you see their aura for a second or 2. Could help in chase but I think it'd be a good base game version of Nowhere to Hide by giving the killer the ability to find a survivor who is lurking around gens but being stealthy.

I think you are creating straw mans. At minimum me personally would not be opposed for the perk to gain SHORT aura read (1-2s) in addition to current effect. The perk is quite bad with current state. But if it had aura + combined with lethal, it could be decent (but still not oppressive)

Plus this perk could be perfect counter to distortion, but would still have counter to that counter (calm spirit does not distract crows, so no aura read should appear). Sounds like a reasonable buff to bad perks across the board

Definitely no aura reading. - I love the birb perk (who would've guessed) and part of why I love it so much is because no matter how sneaky they are with Distortion or whatnot you get the noise notification.

That being said. For a while now I got the impression something is off/different about the perk. Fairly sure I used to get a lot more notifications. Or, well, not necessarily the perk being off for a while now but crows. Either there are fewer or there's something different about how/when they fly away.

If anything the perk would greatly benefit from more crows on maps (I'd take a cooldown increase from 5sec to 7sec for that one) and/or a slight range increase. Say +4m per tier.

The (perceived) inconsistency aside I think Spies is in a pretty good place. Useful on many occasions but not OP.

Spies even as an aura perk would not be worth using without significant changes. Why?

The perk had a triple nerf and has never recovered.

    1. Crow placement overall got massively reduced.
    2. Crow triggers went from 8m to effectively 0-1m.
    3. Crows were allowed to be ducked past.

If you wanted to make it an aura perk then make it map wide and it would still be "meh".
