So, let me get this straight (April Devlog Rant)
So, now a full SWF team can basically reset all the pressure done by damage in 16 seconds total? As two survivors would heal at 2 c/s, CoH grant 100% bonus, so 4 c/s = 4 seconds per survivor, right?
Because what, some streamers keep claiming that "altruistic healing should be lower than self healing" without any reason and their audience repeat those words like parrots? People that compare healing without medkits to healing with a medkit available and thinks that "altruistic healing is double the amount of time invested lost" because of it? Really? Is this really what made you revert the healing change and buff CoH to make it more of a problem it is already, because some people think that altruistic healing is not a problem when it obviously is?
Well, guess we have to go back to pressure the survivors with regression, then... oh wait, no, CoB and OC will stay nerfed! Good luck making any difference when you need 4:30 minutes at minimum to regress a gen!
But hey, they buffed the new PR, right? That should do something, right? Yeah, if RNGesus bless you! Because that's the problem with the perk, you had to be lucky for the map generation to not spawn the hooks one after another in one corner of the map to be able to use it efficiently. The only reason it was still useful is because if you got lucky you would get value everytime you hooked someone. Now, you not only have to get lucky with hook placement, you also have to be lucky to hook someone when it is most effective, as if you do your first hook of someone when the max gen is just 3% done, it was a waste.
The change made sense with the new healing as killers would get more downs, but now that the altruistic healing is back and stronger than ever this would only means that no matter if the perk remove 15, 25 or 90% progression of a gen, now the planets need to be perfectly aligned at the same time someone land a coin sideways for you to get any value out of PR while getting almost the same amount of hooks as before! They could have reduce this problem by removing the "scourge hook" requirement of the perk but nooooo, of course not. That would mean it still remain useful to some degree.
And let's not forget the reason for changing again DH, something that I'm not specially against it, but it is still funny as now instead of "encourage the Killer to chase the unhooked Survivor" while that survivor would get basekit BT and can be protected to avoid it, it would encourage camping the hook and benefit killers like Bubba as having a survivor hooked to death is the best way to avoid him to have DH! Bravo, BHVR! Now, that's good thinking!
I mean, I really hope I'm wrong with this, but what could have being a pretty good start for changing and balancing the game would become another unbalancing point for it. In fact, why not make the PTB take a week longer and also test those changes before deciding to put them on live? Maybe I'm crazy, but doing that sounds pretty reasonable to me!
Guess we will have to see what happens when the patch comes. We can always just review bomb the game or wait for a big streamer to ask for balancing changes, as that seems to work pretty well to make you change your opinion on things.
