challenge unset when starting game

When I first open the game and click survivor it says 'no challenge selected' even though I have one set. Then when I click on 'select challenge' and click 'back', without changing anything, it seems to remember the challenge. Not a major issue, but a bit fiddly having to do it every time I load the game. It only does it once, when I load the game, between games it is fine.
