Does anyone know how to get past the adding a friend bug? (PC to Xbox)

I've fried adding them through the add a friend and I get the usual bug when trying to friend them where it loads forever, but I also tried to join their game with my game pass version. Wether its through Game Bar or the Xbox app if I join or get invited I can't join them so I couldn't friend them that way.
Did anyone find a way to get around it and add their friend? I went through all my options. 😣
