Solo Hook States are a Problem

I understand why the hook mechanics are set up the way they are, and this might be the most controversial change suggestion ever (or just a moderately controversial one with a side of audacity), but going automatically from stage 1 to 2 on hook shouldn't happen anymore.

All it does is enable camping and punish solo players for their teammates deciding to abandon them, or just not being smart or brave enough to even attempt going to help. And again, camping and patrolling.

Situations like above are by far the most frustrating to face. No matter how well you play, no matter how long you extend a chase, unless you're facing a brainless killer you are going to be caught and hooked. That's how the game is meant to be and should be.

But being punished and sent to death hook or just straight up sacrificed all because of one mistake or one good play from the killer, that's frustrating. Being punished for your teammates and their choices, that's frustrating. And rewarding killers for playing dirty, that's also very frustrating.

If auto-progression was disabled, meaning you only went to the second stage if you are hooked a second time or if you make the choice to attempt an escape, making it YOUR choice to take the penalty, that would literally change nothing but remove camping (on stage one) and remove a lot of frustration from being abandoned or puppy-guarded.

Now yes, there's the big issue of your teammates still choosing to abandon you. That can't be magically helped, but at the very least you can take your own fate into your own hands. And if the killer decides to camp you, they can happily waste 5 gens standing there waiting for nothing to happen.

I don't think it would change nearly as much as people think it will, and it may be a bit more difficult for killers, I think that's a good kind of difficult. No more camping and patrolling to get an extra hook stage or kill in one hook, you actually have to participate in the game and earn your hooks.

At least put it in a PTB and see how it goes. I don't see anything but positive change and removing a LOT of toxicity and frustration.
