What is old OoO?

I've seen many people say that old Object of obsession was broken, but what did it do?

Old Object of Obsession was a perk that allowed the survivor to see the killer's aura by looking at their direction as long as you are outside the TR. The "downside" was that the survivor's aura was also revealed. The obsession also had longer range on the aura reading.

The problem was that survivors had full control over showing their aura meaning that it was on command see where the killer is. It fundamentally broken SWF, because a single person with OoO basically meant every survivor knew where the killer was at all times.

The previous answer explains it well, I just wanted to add that because OoO was broken, killers tunneled out survivors who had it, which was obviously made easier because they could the survivor's aura. The "bait" effect of OoO made the survivor more likely to be tunneled (which wasn't nearly as common) and facecamped, which made the stats look like it was balanced because OoO players' escape rate was low, so it took a long time before it was nerfed.
