changes to the forums!

title basically says it all!

i think it would be a nice QOL to be able to properly customize our profiles so we could share more about ourselves rather than having to rely on the activities section to update our statuses.

this is more personal for me, but i would also love to be able to receive notifications about user-specific upvotes (who upvoted me and when on what post), comments or replies in activity sections of profiles, being able to "follow" users whenever they post, etc.

also! personal content curation!! a HUGE, HUGE thing i suggest. by giving users the ability to curate their content through blacklisting words, phrases, or utilizing tags and ignoring them, blocking or ignoring users, etc., it will allow users to create a healthy viewing experience for themselves and lessen the chances of users interacting with someone they may not like. this may add a little bit of complexity with handing reports or tickets because you will have to account for the fact of whether or not a user went through the motions of curating first, but it also allows for better enforcement of forum rules as a result by being able to reallocate resources to more meaningful tickets.

i understand this may require an overhaul of the entire forum system (i think you're using vanilla forums? i don't remember exactly how limited vanilla forums is when it comes to plugins or stretching out the source code) or changes in user flags, but i just wanted to suggest these since the forums feel a bit limited in terms of what you can actually do to make the experience on here how you want it to be.

i might have some more ideas in terms of ways the forums can be changed, but this is all i got for right now. if there's anything else someone wants to add or there's common ideas being shared, let me know and i'll edit my post to properly include it in the OP! happy fog lurking! ^_^
