While in a SWF, Friendly Competition doesn't work with randos

I'm trying to complete the "Shared Task" thome quest and while I'm in a 3 stack I've noticed that completing gens with the random 4th player doesn't give progress to the challenge nor does it activate the perk. That being said it does work if I completed the gen with one of my groupmates. I could've completed the challenge days ago if it wasn't for this bug.
