Cannot invite/join certain friends

On PS5, I have two friends where I am unable to invite/join them unless I am invited by a different third friend. I cannot even join/invite them for custom games. Reinstalling the game won’t work. My friends and I have tried installing the PS5 and PS4 versions to fix this issue but that won’t work. I cannot even find the two friends’ names in the in-game friends list. Whenever I try to join the friends, a message pops up on the screen “this invitation cannot be accepted.”
