Dramaturgy not counting towards daily challenge Relic Veneration

The items Dramaturgy gives you do not complete the challenge Relic Veneration (Escape and collect 1 new Item). I'm assuming this is a bug? Or is it intended?

I guess the challenge intends for you to pick up an item, as in go through the effort of finding one, such as via chests.
Have you tried dropping the item and picking it back up again?
