Why can Survivors switch Characters but Killers can't?
I'm new to Dead By Daylight (I started a little more than a month ago), and I have noticed that Survivors can switch Characters as they please, but for some reason, Killers can't do the same.
Is there a reason behind this? Has it been this from the start or did something happen that caused this?

When it came to matchmaking it would originally go off of what rank you are as killer/survivor. BHVR decided to swap from rank to MMR, when they did this they gave each killer their own MMR.
Killer MMR is based on the amount of kills you get each match, it would than use your MMR to put you up against survivors with the similar MMR. Survivor MMR is based of escaping the trial.
Killer MMR works like this: <2 kills = down in MMR but >2 kills = up in MMR
The MMR system prevents people from joing a lobby with a killer they aren't good with to get bad survivors and switch to a kille they're good with. It also allows people to try out new killers in "chill" games.
The reason survivors can switch characters is because survivors are just basically skins, they dont do anything unique except for base perks.
I hope this cleared some things up.
