Can anyone elaborate on “the audible range of generator repair noises.”
Technician is supposed to reduce this by 8 meters. The spring clamp is supposed to do the same. But I’m a little confused…. When you’re repairing generators there are certain noises you make although they’re often not even audible because the generator itself is so noisy. That’s what I’m curious about… whether you’re playing killer or survivor you can hear a generator before you get close to it (depending on how far along it is.) Often I can’t differentiate between those two noises because, as I said, the generators themselves are too noisy and cover up the repair noises. So…. Do these ranges only affect the repair noises? Because, if so, isn’t that kind of pointless? If I hear a noisy generator at all I know to check it out. I only turn around and ignore it when it’s silent or barely audible. So if these two only make the repair noises inaudible in that range and not the whole gen… what’s the point?

Mostly it's pretty useless unless you are stacking it. I definitely listen for repair noises if I'm patroling and will ignore a gen with low progress and no audible repair noise so there is a chance it can dupe me, but that's only if I can't visually see any proof of the gen being worked on.
