gets stuck on intialization complete screen

my boyfriend plays on PS4 and since the latest update, his game won't progress past the initialization complete screen. it just stays there and gives him no way to actually start the game. it says initialization complete and that is it. seems alot of people on PS4 are having this issue. he's eager to get back into the game, please help.
