do u guys get annoyed when a teammate keeps cleansing?
i just wonder what my random teammates feel like when i have a challenge for cleansing totems, so i just do as it says. i feel like i just "throw" the match by not helping them(yes, i do unhook and repair at the same time) but most of the time it's as if we lose just because i spend a lot of time cleansing totems while carrying a map, but only for the stupid challenge. do people like this annoy you? i always kind of feel bad afterwards & just hope that they won't trash me in the post-chat, maybe even report me for not participating in normal gameplay. especially when i'm halfway through finishing one totem & a teammate near me keeps crouching asking to get healed or something, and then leave when i've almost finished it.

Whenever I get that challenge, I run Counterforce and Detective's Hunch. The latter perk incentivizes me to do a gen first before I go looking for totems, because I can see their auras after each gen is done. And I only cleanse one or two per match, in case a teammate has a boon. I play solo, so I have no way to know when a teammate brings a boon (which isn't very often nowadays)...

First of all catslyer, you ARE participating in normal gameplay, so please don't worry about being reported or getting in trouble <3 Yes, it may not be generators, but you are doing something (that may really help your Team if there's Hex: Devour Hope, or No One Escapes Death waiting in the wings, among others). Not participating in normal gameplay are things such as AFKing (especially over multiple matches), or what is described in our Game Rules under Griefing; focusing on Totems isn't one of them on that list, I promise.
And personally: not at all. I am never annoyed regarding players hunting totems, or even focusing solely on them. Some are doing it to set up boons, maybe they spotted a Hex earlier and got chased off, or running Inner Healing or Overzealous (two of my Survivor perk favorites), and need to reactivate em. Also, I've been in those situations as well where an injured teammate wants heals while I'm breaking a totem, (and have been that Teammate as well asking for healies). Most don't mind waiting a few seconds unless the killer is visibly/audibly nearby.
The only time I mind is when my friend says "Hey, guess what I found!" and a half second later I hear the sound of a Hex totem broken and the "Exposed" status sound effect from Haunted Grounds... but that is extremely more situational to me🤣

I certainly hope not, considering I personally really like running Inner Healing lmao
I don't mind it, I get that there's challenges to do and perks to activate. Not everything needs to be 24/7 generator repair in order to play well enough to win, so it's not exactly throwing the game.

I think the level of annoyance for someone cleansing totems depends on the situation:
- If gens are being done, no one is hooked and / or some is looping the killer, that's a level 0.
- If there are two people hooked, 4 gens left, you are doing a gen and you see the other survivor cleansing a dull totem or opening a chest, that's level 9001.
In short, like many things in life, I think cleansing totems have a time and a place for it.

What Batusalen said. I like cleansing totems and opening chests, it helps break up the monotony of generators and gives me time to think about what's going on. But if someone is on hook, I probably should not be doing those things.
Doing something is always better than doing nothing. Though I am a bit glad Circle of Healing was nerfed so I deal with less Mikaelas booning the same totem ten times a match.
