The 'Hide Your Name' feature (Xbox)

So basically I recently decided to use the 'hide your name' option in the settings. Frankly I am fed up with toxic messages and being spammed with party invites. I was under the assumption that when you use this people won't be able to message you, I'm sure I've seen when watching people stream DbD that when someone is using this you can't get to the persons profile to be able to message them (although I've only seen this with streamers playing on PC) So is this bugged or am I completely misunderstanding how it's supposed to work? Because in game and on the end-game screen my gamertag is hidden. It only says the name of the character I'm playing. However I've still been receiving messages off other players, and I don't think its been hiding me in the friends list either as my friend has been able to join my lobby just fine.

    There is a loophole that people use to also bypass the "block" setting on Xbox.

    The players in the "people recently played with" menu won't be affected by "hide my name" and so other players can make an educated guess on who you were based on that after the game.
