Pipping mechanics needs changing now that grades don't affect matchmaking.

Pipping mechanics should be changed. Depiping was fine when there were ranks and you were matched with players on same rank. So then even new players would reach red rank if they played a lot without depipping... They still could if they got lucky as on lower ranks players didn't play optimally and matches tend to last longer which meant more time to get pip.

But now that they were changed some time ago to grades they don't affect matchmaking which is based on MMR now. Meaning depips are not needed and grades are supposed to only show playtime. Now players also play more optimally which means pipping is harder and also depipping is more likely if you're tunneled/camped out or gen rushed.

So as long as depipping exist grades does not show playtime but sweating you want to put on games and luck to reach red grade. But the reward to reach red grade is only 2 million bp which is small amount compared to the effort so many players don't want to put effort and sweat like their life debend on it. Also pipping is just unfair if you play on swf it's much easier to pip than on soloQ.

Depipping is extremely frustating mechanic for many players on both sides and some even can't play the game because of it. Pipping requires a lot in higher grades and you can get lot of safety pips instead and then few depip puts you on bottom of the grade and you have to try again. This just makes players give up.

Personally I have stopped caring to try because when I do then I instantly depip next match so I just mostly play kills instead hooks on killer. Before I reached red grade on both sides but it was so much sweating and caused me lot of stress that I had to stop and that all because depipping.

Here is my suggestion remove depips but double the amount of point that is required to reach red grade 1. Now it's 70 something so make it 140. Then pipping is fine that would make many players to play for hooks more and not just kills. I would be one of them. And some survivor players would be able to play the game again as many has told me they don't play dbd only because depipping. Grades would then show actually playtime.

    This might be long to read so I post to say few points.

    - Pips and depip were designed for ranks when they decided for matchmaking so the are now outdated and especially depip needs changing.

    - Grades are only supposed to now so playtime so I don't think depips are needed. Biggest reward to experienced players to reach red rank 1 is just the feeling you achieved something.

    - Depip makes players feel bad and at just salt on the wound when you lose and cause lot of stress to players and you have to swat a lot to gain those pips. Which why I stopped trying to pip and play on kills on killer for example.

    - So if depip were removed I think many killer players could play for hooks as you can always try again if you fail to win but now you can easily depip if you do that.

    - On higher grades it becomes very hard to pip so depip keeps you away from progressing. In soloQ I think it almost imposible to reach red grade 1 even if you sweat.

    - Depips should be removed but for compesation the amount of pips to reach red grades could be doubled. Then grades would show playtime like they are supposed to.

    I am all in favour for removing depipping. A lot of times you depip not by your own actions but due to external factors, which makes the process even more unfair. Also, a lot of people want their points at the end of the month and thus play more aggressive to pip. If they do not have to fear depipping, I think people will lighten up more.
