Suggestion: Additional Changes to Trapper's power and add-on

These suggestions aim to give Trapper some more quality of life adjustments. They are not going to aim on buffing him massively. These suggestions will be only small adjustments to make him feel better to play and more rewarding.

Basekit Changes:

BHVR removed more and more perks that counter killer's powers specifically. Once Saboteur could be used to disarm traps for the entire match. These days are long gone. Nowadays perks that counters his power are perks that hides auras, because when I survivor steps into a trap the survivor's aura is revealed to the killer. To catch up with modern killers, these aura reveals will be replaced with Killer Instinct.

Secondly, Trapper can be caught by his own traps. This could make him look a bit ridiculous sometimes. Since anti-camping has been introduced, this functionality is no longer needed. Therefore, Makeshift Wrap becomes basekit.

  • Survivor caught in a Bear Trap trigger Killer Instinct for 4s, their aura won't be shown anymore
  • The Trapper can no longer be caught in his own Bear Traps, they will instead be disarmed when he steps onto them

Add-on changes:

To make some add-ons more worth using, they need some adjustments to bring them in line with the rest. Since Makeshift Wrap is basekit, it needs a new effect. Now it increases the duration of Killer Instinct by 3s.

Trapper Gloves will now increase time to pick up a trap by 30% as well. Sometimes you want to pick up a trap during a chase, but you can't. Now you can!

Lengthened Jaws applies Deep Wound if someone escapes a trap. Sometimes trapper can struggle to get downs. It happens that someone rescues a survivor from a trap and this is rendered worthless. Now, when being caught in a Bear Trap, survivors are inflicted with Deep Wound. The Deep Wound timer pauses as long as the survivors is caught in the Bear Trap.

Rusted Jaws and Serrated Jaws apply Mangled and Haemorrhage. Both effects are usually applied by Sloppy Perk, a famous healing slowdown for weaker killers. Since Trapper is not very strong in chase and needs time to places traps, these effects are now combined into one single add-on, Rusted Jaws. Serrated Jaws needs to be reworked into a new add-on.

With this in mind, I suggest a rarity swamp with Fastening Tools. Fastening Tools is an add-on that adds better placement and is commonly used. It should be more available. Serrated Jaws becomes Light Paint. It lightens the Bear Traps for use on maps with bright colours, e. g. Ormond. Light Paint becomes rare. Additionally, Wax Brick is buffed to 50% to compensate Fastening Tools being uncommon now and slows down RNG dependant traps escapes that feel awful and unrewarding sometimes.

Oily Coil can be neat sometimes. Since this add-on reveals survivors auras, it triggers now a Score Event.

Bloody Coil is pretty a strong add-on. Since this add-on injures survivors, it should trigger a Score Event.

  • Makeshift Wrap increases Killer Instinct by 3s (was immunity to own traps)
  • Trapper Gloves increase Bear Trap setting speed and decrease picking up time by 30% (was only setting speed)
  • Lengthened Jaws apply Deep Wound on trap step. The Deep Wound timer is paused while being trapped (was only after escaping)
  • Fastening Tools become uncommon (was rare)
  • Wax Brick increases time to escape and rescue by 50% (was 33%)
  • Serrated Jaws is reworked into Light Paint. Light Paint applies a colour modifier for bright maps. Light Paint becomes rare (applied Haemorrhage, was uncommon)
  • Rusted Jaws apply Mangled and Haemorrhage when a survivor is injured by a trap (was only Mangled)
  • Oily Coil, when resetting a trap, Oily Coil triggers Sticky Hands Score Event with 300 points in the Deviousness category
  • Bloody Coil now triggers Pay with Blood Score Event with 400 points in the Deviousness category

Edit: After testing, I found out that Lengthened Jaws already work as I suggested. Therefore, the add-on should use another wording, "escapes and get rescued".
