Pallet won't drop no matter what

Step 1 : Boot the game
Step 2 : Play as any survivor in a match
Step 3 : In-game, attempt a pallet drop
Step 4 : Even if I am standing still, moving, running, anything, the pallet does not drop and I die, every single time. There are also times when I stun the killer, yet still somehow die while they are stunned. If this game indeed has dedicated servers then our ping should only matter for the server, not to the other player. What is going on?
If this is some weird ping issue, match me with players that have my ping, or do not match me at all. My ping is a steady 20ms. Thank you.
