I did Adam's Pebble Master Challenge (current rift, Level 2) and in-game, I got confirmation that I successfully threw a pebble at a generator after another survivor was hooked.
I was eventually sacrificed and didn't get credit at the end, but the conditions of the challenge don't say I have to escape.
