Feedback regarding the new MacMillan-Maps (I really dont like them)

Hello,

since you said somewhere that you wanted Feedback regarding the new MacMillan-Maps in case you want to do the same to other realms... I really dislike them. And I hope you dont add Maps to other Realms by moving around Map PIeces.

Because I think this was a change nobody asked for. From my perspective, ever since the problematic Windows on the MacMillan-Maps were removed or weakened (which happened years ago), nobody really complained about MacMillan-Maps.

Instead the Maps are considered as the most balanced Maps in the game. If you want to play on a "normal" Map, you burn a Mao Offering for MacMillan and you are fine. And I also have never seen any side complain about MacMillan-Offerings burned by the other side. I dont use Map Offerings, but when I go against a Killer or Survivor-Team who burn MacMillan, I am fine with it.

Or rather, I was. The new Maps are really a downgrade to the whole Realm. Because now you have RNG of roughly 50% if you end up on a new version of this Map or on a old version. And I think the new versions dont really feel good to play. There are huge Deadzones on those Maps. And as Killer, I cannot really pinpoint it, but it does not feel as fluent to play those Maps in their new versions.

So yeah, please stop changing things nobody asked for. Nobody asked for any more MacMillan-Maps or variations of existing Maps. Especially not for the most balanced Maps in the game. And my main concern is that this will happen to every realm...

Personally, I would rather see unique Maps added to other Realms. E.g. Dead Dawg Saloon is the only Map for Glenvale, Shattered Square is the only Map for Borgo. And while I understand that moving around Map Pieces for existing Maps is not as difficult or time-consuming compared to creating completely new Maps, I would rather see one Map added to Glenvale than 5 MacMillan-Maps.

I have mixed thoughts on the new Macmillan maps.

I'll start with the positives. The new Suffocation Pit is way better than the original one, simply because of it being a completely different shape and it not being a "football field" map where there is a 3 gen on each side and a bunch of connected loops in the middle that encourage the killer to play around said 3 gen. Terrible gameplay for both sides (and Azarov's Resting Place is also a bad map for similar reasons). The new version doesn't have that issue.

The new Storehouse also doesn't have the 2 big areas sticking out from the edges of the map that are dead ends. The original one has these and I personally dislike them because they're time consuming to patrol as killer and as survivor if the killer does catch you there you don't have a ton of places to run other than the loop that is right there. Disturbed Ward has the same thing and I don't like it there either.

But overall, I'd rather those 2 new maps have simply replaced the old ones and left it at that. Because the other 3 new map variants (Coal Tower, Ironworks, Shelter Woods) I don't think really added anything to the game and I don't think something like this should be done again especially when there are plenty of other maps that actually need proper balance changes, something that most Macmillan maps aren't in need of. I didn't mind the new Shelter Woods, I think mainly just because it's Shelter Woods and the nature of that map itself and it didn't feel much different other than the building and shack being in different places. Overall I'd say it's a neutral change compared to the old one (and by old one I mean the new version of the old one, aka with the Skull Merchant building). But the new Coal Tower and Ironworks I think were just straight downgrades. I agree with what you said about not really being able to pinpoint it exactly but they just feel less fluent and overall less fun. It just feels like landmarks and loops were moved around for the sake of moving them around and not for any particular reason. It just feels too random and things feel out of place.

Strangely enough I've only really run into these maps as Killer, and they all just feel super Killer sided. I would play weaker Killers, make a bunch of mistakes (mostly regarding the event), and still win most of my matches (to a degree higher than my normal winrate). It could just be Survivors not being used to them, but it also could be the low quality of the loops. Fake Ironworks seems to be particularly bad, as it seems to spawn 2-3 hills every time, that aren't even facing into a loop to help Survs make it not worthless map space.
