Does grade affect matchmaking at all?

It was my understanding they don't but i hit iridescent 4 as survivor for the first time in the final week of last season and since then i've been getting stomped regularly. I don't think i've survived a single non-friendly match since then and majority of matches i'm dead before the 4th gen is finished. Before i hit iri 4 last season i was surviving some matches at least, but now it's like it's a foregone conclusion that i'm going to die. So at this point i'm wondering what's going on.
