Devs! It's Time to Address Three-Genning!
Title is self-explanatory.
If you haven't watched CoconutRTS's recent video, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s61P7XnFwGg&t=916s
Some of the gen perks were nerfed, Skull Merchant was reworked (and rightfully so,) but the action of three-genning is still here in the game.
My only question is what will the devs do to address this issue?

The devs said they are working on a fix. So all you can do is wait.

the only problem is that 3 genning seems to be either the only way some killers are viable or the only way some people see those killers as viable, as much as I would love 3 genning to not exist I think its because the baseline of so many killers is just too low, id love to see some buffs to those killers to get them out of the 3 gen rut along with the changes

We have stated previously that we are looking for a solution to the "3 gen issue" - one that will have little to no impact on normal gameplay, when we have more information on our plans around this we will be sure to share them.

We're still waiting to hear the results on that hidden prestige test you guys did 3 months ago

and when we are ready to share the results and what action (if any) would be taken we will be doing that.

There are 2 major problems to fixing 3-gens
1) What happens if survivors purposely want to repair the easy generators, and purposely leave the 3-gen until the very end?
2) What happens if survivors want to excessively pre-leave generators, and excessively hide, which means that even if the last 3 generators are far apart, they still aren’t getting much repair progress?

I’m explaining why it hasn’t been fixed yet. Many 3-gen scenarios are the fault of survivors, or at least partially the fault of survivors.

Maybe the resolution could be down to map design. For example some maps don't have any obstructions at all between gens and others are just too close to each other. OR... survivors could get a gen aura when a 3 gen is in play with the furthest gen flashing when the killer is not near it. This would then be up to the players to decide how to proceed with more information, or maybe even both.

But isn't breaking a 3 gen a fun an challenging thing i know i find it fun as survivor

Just add a surrender vote. People that want to keep trying to break the 3 gen can keep going. People who want to give up can surrender. Most competitive games have a surrender option. I recommend following League of Legends' surrender conditions where surrender becomes available at 15 minutes or if someone disconnects.
3 gen isn't necessarily a problem that needs to be fixed. Not all 3 gens are unbreakable, and some people like the challenge.

This suggestion would kill DBD overnight.

Wrong. You realize DBD used to have no DC penalty and anyone could DC without consequence? DBD seems to be quite successful despite that.

Well, i hope this 3 gen situation does get some relief. And tbh, im noticing it more on smaller maps where gens spawns are rough. And with them reworking more maps to be much smaller, its making the situation worse.

Yeah but a lot has changed since then, there are a lot more people who think the reaction to everything is to rage quit (on every single game right now). It ruins immersion, it ruins normal gameplay and it ruins the fun from playing the game. You need to also remember why it was put in place in the first place, teammates would disconnect substantially more (I had multiple games each day where EVERYONE would rage quit) and with the DC penalty being added it reduced it drastically. Even I've disconnected a few times but nothing to warrant such a huge waiting period, if that's your issue with the DC penalty (and it sounds like it is) then you should take more breaks when playing as to not get mad and frustrated by the killer. Everyone has bad games, it just is what it is.

Gen speeds are already way too fast, 2-3 gens pop within 90 seconds in high MMR, and if people are using Toolboxes hope you found 1 person to tunnel so you can get 1 kill. People resort to 3 genning because the game is still Survivor sided and it's way too hard for most killers to even be able to compete against the abundance of pallets, super strong main building on nearly every map, OP toolboxes, OP endurance and move speed perks, like seriously if a survivor has Lithe and uses it at a TL wall they can just fly across the map and you instantly lose chase because of 1 perk. This is why 3 genning is a thing, because a lot of players feel like they don't have any other way to actually win. Nerf the perks people use for 3 genning I guess, but gen speeds in general need to be slower.

I'm the killer. I never DC. I just prefer a surrender vote because I rather survivors surrender than afk hide for 30 minutes when they give up. Re-read my comment. I added more conditions for the surrender vote to make it only come into play for long games.

I do wonder how they intend to do this. A lot of 3-gens are, whether people want to admit it or not, caused by the Survivor side opting to immediately do the generators that are essentially 'free.' At that point, the Killer guarding those generators until they can regain some lost pressure -- advancing their power, making Survivors use their items to depletion, inflicting multiple status effects or injuries, etc. -- and find an opportunity to push that advantage is perfectly fine.
Going into a match with the express intention of dragging things out for as long as possible obviously isn't fine in the slightest. However, on the surface, how do you differentiate? Both Killers are mechanically doing the exact same thing. The difference is in the intention, which you have no way of gauging for several minutes at least.
When adding something to counter the latter, you have to consider both sides. If you add something with too extreme of an activation requirement, Killers that want to drag things out will be able to play around it to ensure maximum time wasted. If you make the requirement even close to reasonable, Survivors will find a way to weaponise it in the first 23 seconds of it being added. The worst case scenario with that is Survivors will knock out as many easy, safe generators as possible and rely on the game breaking the 3-gen for them.

Planning to 3 gen from the lobby has been a common killer 'strategy' for over a year and a half. I'd go so far as to say it was a meta strat during the CoBruption days.
I don't deny that it can be a survivor issue at times, but it's been far, far more common since 6.1 that killers choose to play PvE gen kick simulator before the game even starts than survivors doing it to themselves.
The 3-gen 'strategy' has been called 'not intended gameplay' by the devs directly, and in many cases is directly against game rules for 'holding games hostage' if the killer refuses to progress the game by hooking for downing survivors (again, according to the devs) and can be bannable.

Do you play with Deja Vu ?
I would recommend it, 90% of the survivors play with out it. and 80% are 3 genning them self.
For example here, see the gen im on, and the gen closest to me (red one). There were also a gen upstairs in the building next to me - that would have been an easy 3 gen for the killer..
And NO ONE from my team were doing anything about it, except for me, i had to eat 2 hooks because i was alone doing the one in the building, i did manage to split them.
If people would just bring Deja Vu, 3 gens can be avoided in most cases. It is more often on the survivors than the killers that the killer gets a 3 gen, people go and work on the gen they start next to, thats in a corner of the map, that is the worst gen to start with (unless there are more gens really close).
This screenshot below shows it better

Sorry but thats not true.
If the survivors want out, they can just go to the killer and get killed - this is not a hostage situation

What if the gens are re spawning when you have 1 gen left (3 gens in the match), something like that pyramid head box that if the killer is too close, it re spawn in another part of the map. Maybe they could do something like that for gens if they are found in X amount of meters between each other when you have only 1 gen left to do. without modifying maps, or anything else, just moving gens at that scenario and only if they are close enough to be considered 3-gens.

Not just DCing but also killing on hook.

Nobody learns Gen spawns anymore.
And even people with Déjà Vu 3gen themselves if they don't do the right one out of the 3 gens shown.
That happened to me in multiple matches.

I use Deja Vu because it shows me a possible 3 gen, if you look at my 2nd screenshot, one of the gens are easy to miss.
But yeah, a lot of the 3 genning is survivors fault and most of the threads on the forum are pushing the blame to the killer and demands a solution from the devs, instead of taking responsibility for their actions them self. Even when im running Deja Vu i often team up with survivors that 3 gen us.
Its really rare that i see killers activly defending a 3 gen from the start, and even when it happens, we manage to get them split most of the time.

Strong 3 gens are an issue on the side of Survivor macro play.

They are not gonna nerf gen speeds. They WANT the game to be survivor sided because survivors are where their cash whales are. If you saw the stream, they have nothing but nerfs for killers down the line. Even Sloppy Butcher which is barely used is getting "updated".
You can't play the game at higher MMR without slow down perks at all because of how fast gens go but they don't care. Sure there will be more "updates" to some of the weaker killers but that won't change no one but blight or nurse can keep up with the insane tools survivors have. Nurse and Blight are only really good because they can get to gens fast enough to do something about it.
3 Gen is has counter play which is to just focus gens that are close together but the thing is survivor players DONT want to counter play anything. If anything requires them to do anything but run, vault, and throw pallets, and the occasional killer mechanic like the box then they will lose their mind and throw a fit until BHVR comes to the rescue. This is road map they showed today is the road map to the decline of the game. No one is gonna wanna play killer because of having to play with meta perks to do anything (which they will likely nerf those too) and you can't do any fun or branch out because within one miniute of the match starting and you landed your first hit, 3 gens pop. One person alone shouldn't get a gen fixed so fast on their own.
