Clowns anti-motion sickness cross has been getting smaller for months now.

I have this problem on pc, but my friends on console have it too. The small cross that appears when the clown throws the afterpiece tonic at a survivor has been getting smaller for a long time and is now only a pixel. I suffer from motion sickness and am unable to play against the clown anymore. Was this intentional or a bug?
