Ever since that ‘soft cap MMR increase’ the survivor games have been horrible..

Before that, the survivor games were actually fun and not Killers camping/tunneling/cringe humping us every goddamn game like right now. My friends wanna game every night but all we get is Pain Res/Pop and Deadlock Killers almost every game who tunnel at 5 gens.. like how is this even possible?! This Pop and Pain Res meta seriously needs to be nerfed cuz it’s really frustrating to playing against it almost every game. I can’t be the only one having these games right? I used to have a friend who gamed with us almost every night but after these horrible matches, he almost never comes online anymore ;(

Both perks are awarded from downing a survivor and hooking them. In theory, If everybody was good enough to loop the killer at a decent amount of time which allows a decent amount to generators to be done within the chase, the perks are used rarely in this sense. If you're experiencing it every time then obviously it's the survivors thats the issue in my opinion if they're getting themselves time and giving the killer the upper hand. Both of these perks have received these changes, I wouldn't want to see them further nerfed either.

They must have done something because I agree its been miserable for both sides. I hate getting easy wins at 5 gens when I play killer just because the survivors were matched outside their skill level. But at least I have control over that and can handicap myself to try and make it a challenging and somewhat interesting match.

Nothing is worse imo though when playing as survivor when the cap is too low and the MMR puts mid skill players against high skill ones. I'm not the best survivor at all and many of my soloq teammates are also mid skill range, yet whenever the MMR is like this I frequently find myself going against Blights or Spirits that will just 4k at 4-5 gens left running the most meta builds imaginable. Its simply not fun.

Recently they got it right for a while and games actually felt balanced and very enjoyable for both sides but it seems their either switched it back or maybe there are not enough players and the game is forcing horrible skill matchups to reduce wait times.

Perks don't affect matchmaking - it's entirely possible to lose with popular ones on either side.

Perks make you less likely to lose, so it does affect match making in that respect. I think they do a lot of heavy lifting in this game and I'm certain I could climb to a higher MMR if I equipped much stronger perks and add-ons. But I won't do that because I don't like playing ultra competitive DBD.

I think perks like Pop Goes The Weasel and Pain Resonance have additional value in being so demoralising to face. There's nothing worse than returning to your nearly completed gen only to find that it's been regressed almost back to nothing. If you're also facing a top tier Killer playing "optimally", it's enough to make you want to quit there and then because you know you're in for a 4K at 3-5 gens.

I think BHVR need to find a better way to take the sweat out of the game. Although I think the MMR system is (mostly) working as intended, because stronger players tend to face other stronger players more often than not, I'm worried that SBMMR brings a sweatier vibe to the game. The better you do the harder your trials get, so you bring stronger perks and play styles to compensate to keep winning. And so it goes on, in a never ending arms race.

BHVR have tried to mitigate the tendency for this to happen somewhat by making our MMR a secret, but then players come up with their own metrics anyway by doing a "win streak" or using a third party website to access player stats.

What could BHVR do to solve this problem? That I don't know. But I do know that this game isn't much fun when one side is sweating way more than the other. And I'm not sure enough of the player base wants to sweat to satisfy the more competitive side of the community. I mean, for every sweaty Killer you need at least 4 sweaty Survivors for a fair match up. So there's never going to be enough Survivors for the best Killers to face, leading to lower MMR Survivors being matched up with these players and then nobody has a good time.

I don't mind a sweaty game but the real problem is the people and their game plays. No one wants to go up against players who have infinite tier 3 Michelle Myers and slug you the entire game without hooking, you get more points running the killer than doing the gens (which is the actual objective of the game), your usually slugged, tunneled, or killed at 5 gens. They are losing survivors and people are just not wanting to play. It's mostly teens that are playing and that's the problem and the devs. They allowed problems to go on and ignore them for so long.
