Key rework concept
After the rework on keys and the hatch, they seemed to lose a huge amount of value and are never seen anymore, which is odd when you compare it to a brown med-kit which has a lot more use and is a lot easier to get. another problem was whenever you get a green key with no add-ons from a chest it has no use whatsoever and was a waste of time spent opening that chest. This concept of a rework should bring use to keys while not having them be overpowered. Firstly I think that Keys should be split into 2 items, Amulets and Keys
Amulet
Keys aura reading ability is very useful but needing to bring add-ons for it when the map (another aura reading item) does it without needing them is weird to me, so I think that they should be their own item. Amulets would have the same function as the Keys with the aura addons, but now the ability is built into the item so there isn't a useless item that requires addons to actually do something useful. Visually, The amulet would be a necklace the survivors would wrap around their hand. It would have strange writings and when you are using it would glow a blue like Vittorio's tattoos. I made some examples of what I think each rarity should represent
Jade Amulet (Rare)
- An ancient amulet charged with a Jade emblem, To give strength to you and others in need
- Press the Use Item button to trigger the Mind Channel ability to reveal survivors within 40 meters of you for up to 15 seconds
Amethyst Amulet (Very Rare)
- An ancient amulet charged with an Amethyst emblem, To warn of impending danger
- Press the Use Item button to trigger the Mind Channel ability to reveal The Killer whenever you are in their terror radius for up to 15 seconds
Iridescent Amulet (Ultra Rare)
- An ancient amulet charged by an Unknown source, its power Seeps out of the Emblem and flows through you letting you just get a taste of its true power
- Press the Use Item button to trigger the Mind Channel ability to reveal Everyone within 40 meters of you for up to 25 seconds
Amulet Add-Ons
a lot of the Keys Add-ons would transfer to the Amulet like the Prayer Rope, Prayer Beads, Scratched pearl, and Unique wedding ring while the rest of the others would be replaced or changed
Blood Amber (Very Rare)
- An Amber pendant stained red with the blood of ritual sacrifices, some people believed the death of one would save many. maybe their words don't sound so crazy now
- The Aura of the Survivors that are being chased within a 40-meter range is revealed to you in red while Mind Channel is active.
Unity Pendant (Rare)
- A gold Pendant with words in an unknown language, holding the pendant makes you feel closer to those around you
- When Using the Mind Channel ability reveal your aura to survivors within 40 meters of you
Ivory Figure (Rare)
- A small Figure of a Sea Goat, a god from an ancient religion, kept as a hope that at least some higher entity would save them, That hope lingers within the figure increasing your hope
- Increases The Range of the Mind Channel ability by 20 meters
Torn Ceremony Cloth (Uncommon)
- A tattered piece of cloth came from an old wedding Gown, you could still feel the energy and joy they had that day
- The Aura of the Obsession within a 40-meter range is revealed to you in Blue while the Mind Channel is active.
Keys
Since keys no longer Have the aura abilities they would have a new ability take their place. After thinking for some time I realized that the reworked chests have a padlock on them so why not have Keys that would Open chests faster with the most powerful one even being able to even open the hatch. with this change, they would lose the charges and instead have a use system similar to the firecrackers
Flimsy Lockpick (Uncommon)
- A rusted lock pick that was used by a thief many years ago
- When standing next to a chest use the ability button to open the chest 50% faster, the item is consumed after use
Padlock Key (Rare)
- A normal dull key that has lost its shiny color but it still works
- When standing next to a chest use the ability button to instantly open a chest and the key is consumed after use
Shiny Key (Very Rare)
- The Key shimmers in the moonlight, Its polished Study frame means it won't break as easily as others
- When standing next to a chest use the ability button to instantly open any chests
Skeleton Key (Ultra Rare)
- This key seems alive shifting in unnatural ways, fitting perfectly into to every lock
- When standing next to a chest use the ability button to instantly open any chests
- Press the Use Item button while standing over the closed Hatch to open it, consumed after use
Note that very-rare and ultra-rare keys are not Consumed after use when opening chests (Not hatch) so they can open any chest without it disappearing, This brings value to them even bringing them in for the chest challenges to quickly open them and move to the next one. also another thing is that Keys would not get other keys in chests, so you do not have to worry about using the padlock key and getting a lockpick in return
Key Add-Ons
They would get new add-ons to fit their new playstyle. each one would change the loot pool in the chests and even help you locate the chests
Salt Rock charm (Uncommon)
- A charm of a rock dug out of an old salt mine, it's said to bring good fortune
- When using the key to open a chest any item you get would be Uncommon or higher
Rabbit's foot charm (rare)
- A charm of a severed rabbit's foot, it's believed to bring good luck. Just not to the rabbit
- When using the key to open a chest any item you get would be Rare or higher
Spare parts bag (Very rare)
- A bag full of unused spare parts, something has to be useful
- When using the key to open a chest find 2 random add-ons added to your item
Medics Keychain (Rare)
- A keychain owned by a Nurse from Léry's Memorial Institute, it has medical information engraved but most of it is too worn to read
- When using the key to open a chest has a 50% chance of finding a med-kit
Mechanics Keychain (Rare)
- A keychain owned by an old mechanic from Auto Haven, The keychain is bent and ruined
- When using the key to open a chest has a 50% chance of finding a toolbox
Explorers Keychain (Rare)
- A keychain owned by an Urban Explorer, that met their demise at the McMillian estate
- When using the key to open a chest has a 50% chance of finding a Map
Devotees Keychain (Rare)
- A keychain owned by a priest from the decimated Borgo trying to keep hope in their darkest times
- When using the key to open a chest has a 50% chance of finding an Amulet
Thief's Glass Eye (Ultra Rare)
- A glass eye from a Thief who always seems to know exactly where people hide their valuables
- when holding a key with this addon highlights the aura of chests within 16 meters of you
Vigo's Map (Ultra Rare)
- A tattered map of a trial with annotations of a secret escape
- when holding a key with this addon highlights the aura of the hatch within 10 meters of you

Honestly they need to rework ALL survivor items IMO.
Most are out-dated and not creative at all. They focus way too much on generator speed/hooks.
I do like your suggestions though.

You've got some massive line breaks in your post, makes it very hard to read.
I'd rework items entirely, but I think more items would be the wrong way to go. I'd combine keys and maps and have an item specifically dedicated to aura reading.
Keys are already pretty strong, but I usually don't bring one just because they have a reputation that if someone has it they are playing for hatch.

...just because they have a reputation that if someone has it they are playing for hatch.
why is this so true even after hatch rework? it's not like their aura reading abilities are weak, blood amber is insanely underrated and even "bond" add ons aren't completely useless.

Don't know, but its hard to break a reputation once its in place. Like if everyone avoids using keys because they don't want to be perceived as hiding for hatch, that means if a person is going against the trend, it might be because they want hatch.
Also, from a psychological perspective, even if you have no intention of playing for hatch, if its down to you and another survivor, and you just happen to have that key, the thought it is definitely going to cross your mind of the use you can get out of it.

i'm just surprised they are STILL, more than 2 years after hatch rework, used mainly for hatch. this has to be the case since they are still strongly associated with hatch. 22 seconds of on demand wall hacks on killer? nah i'll stick to my med kit. i guess it requires a strict set up so that's why it isn't popular, an iridescent item with a purple add on and the duration add on?

Oh I'm sorry I originally wrote it in Google Docs and when I transferred it, it had like weird spacing I tried to fix as much but probably missed a lot
I did a rework of it again which should hopefully make it easier
