The Grade System Feels More and More Outdated (and Frustrating)

Hello everyone,

This has been my concern during the last months of Dead by Daylight, expecially when we approach the Rank Reset day and now I'm feeling it already at the beginning of this "Reset" as well with the new relaxed approach I'm having to the game. I personally feel like more reasons would justify making it more forgiving, accessible and not so strict in its rules.

  • Getting pips at Golden and Iri Ranks: The requests on the survivor side are too high and not in their control (even not optimal sometimes). Getting more of Altruism, Boldness and Objective is in the hands of the killer (who can choose to hardcore focus you or another survivor, negating you one or more categories needed for the pip) and of the teammates as well (Them Rightfully Doing Their Objectives, Going For Saves, Healing or Safe-Healing, etc...). It doesn't feel like rewarding just a good performance, but also a performance where you were allowed at doing all these actions in the same match, possibly escaping as well. On the killer side it's more clear and maybe "easy", but it's made easier by adopting the most optimal playstyles that revolve around the known strategies (tunneling/camping) and promote the use of particular builds (mainly gen regression, as Gatekeeper is a category that rewards the killer for not allowing to finish the gens). It feels really limiting and stressful, also forcing me at playing less chill than what I want to personally do, feeling frustrated in the case a game goes wrong because I chose to play more for bloodpoints and/or fun interactions and unique plays.
  • Depip: Being punished for a bad game is a cause of frustration, expecially when out of the control of the player. Being hardcore focused by a killer as survivor, or having an unlucky spawn as killer can compromise the match, making the player lose progress in the ranking process. Considering what currently involves the grinding process this feels even worse.

I personally had little issues at reaching the Iri I when I played DbD, with both sides, but the main problem was how I was feeling at looking at that endgame screen not thinking I've done enough after 6-8 mixed hooks with M1 killer and no slowdowns or after that match where I didn't heal my teammates enough even if I got chased for a long time and worked on the gens as much as I could. Considering how Grade is not a measure of Skill and it's not used for matchmaking, I think it would be worth it to simplify the process of Ranking Up, setting it to lower values (Ash-Bronze). Also considering that the main reward is just Bloodpoints, it would help new players at catching up with the perks grind and motivate them at achieving that Iri I without overstressing themselves with the tools they've when they start playing Dead by Daylight. I hope that looking into this will allow to me and other people who don't want to always play optimal (tunneling/camping, focusing goals, etc...) and enjoy more unique builds by trying as many perks and items/add-ons as we can to not feel frustrated for playing the game "just differently" and "for fun".
