Light's Out and Gamemode Feedback
Preface: Balance will not be discussed as its pretty obvious that the entire point wasn’t to test this mode specifically, and balance it. This test was for the framework, and other things. This mode very much so caters to the casual base, going for “wins” here isn’t the point.
Lets get the negatives out of the way. Gamemodes should have been done years ago at this point (Ranked/Casual included, but i’ll get there) The DBD community at 8 years in, is really set into their ways, and convincing them to actually play the mode casually isn’t really going to happen unless you outright remove win/lose conditions. I fear that, in the long run, gamemodes aren’t going to be received well on purely “balance” alone, when the entire point is for them to simply not be balanced. Light’s Out really showed this off, and also showed that splitting the game into ranked/casual is also just not feasible at this point, it doesn’t make anything better at least in the timeframe needed.
Now, the positives. This is a GREAT first step, albeit late. This opens the door to other fun party-esque game modes that can be tweaked for seasonal events, can be added for seasonal events, so on. BHVR could even split up Gamemodes and Modifiers and flesh each out. Tomes could also be mass expanded to incorporate new modes, or incentivize people to play them. Queues also didn’t feel all that much different, so queue splitting shouldn’t be that big of an issue, as well as this helps with new players, and player retention. Great first step!
Edit: Final thought that didn't copy from my draft: My worry here is that if the feedback is too negative, BHVR isn't going forward with future modes, or if they do they'll play them super safe. Go nuts BHVR, make these as wild as possible, thank you <3

While Lights Out isn't much, it's a cute little gamemode that reminds us what DBD was intended to be: a survival horror game where there is paranoia and fear of getting caught by the slasher.
Love or hate the gamemode, it will open gates to more possible gamemodes being added to the game now that the framework for modifiers has been completed. Ridiculous that it took this long, but better later than never, so it's still very exciting.

While trying it. I found that the mode was rather fun. To me, now this feels like a horror game. Which I do like. I actually do like this change. I had an amazing time! 😀
Looking at it and just seeing a few things to make it a continuing mode that I would play nightly. I will say that the view distance for everyone needs an increase of 8 meters from where it is at now. It also should take into account that crouch should have an increase movement speed of 5%.
Another discussion would be for generators that are powered on, to begin illuminating the area at a greater distance to clear away fog and dark.
