Removal of Item Add-ons After Joining Match

Often I will join matches with my item and add-ons, but when I join the match, my add-ons are gone. After the match is over they're still in my inventory, but the game just randomly takes them off for some reason. It's entirely random when it will happen as I don't know if it will happen until after I join a match.
