Ways to make Freddy more Interesting

The Nightmare is a nightmare to balance. I wanted to make him more fun.

Problem with Freddy:

  1. Freddy is weak (against competent/experienced players)
  2. Freddy has a boring playstyle (gen kick/slowdown perks)
  3. Freddy has weak or terrible add-ons

TLDR; Possible solutions:

  1. Make his pallets base kit and buff his add-ons
  2. Co-operate his current power with his old kit (pre-rework Freddy)
  3. Rework him again (unlikely)

MY REWORK:

  1. Gave the Current Freddy some elements of the Old Freddy
  2. Every way to get out of the Dream World is still the same: Fail a skill check, wake-up action and Alarm Clock.
  3. Added lullaby Radius for Awake Survivors and removed Oblivious Status Effect in the Dream World
  4. The Nightmare has a normal Terror Radius (in the Dream World) of 32 metres and a 4.6 m/s movement speed

DREAM DEMON:

  • Dream Demon cloaks The Nightmare from awake Survivors, causing them to hear his Lullaby Radius of 24 metres but only see him fully when he is within 12 metres, and only intermittently from 12 to 24 metres.
  • The Nightmare is invisible to Survivors when he is farther than 24 metres away.
  • While the Survivors are in the Dream World they hear a 32-metre Terror-Radius and The Nightmare is not invisible anymore.
  • Every time Survivors become Asleep or are outside his Terror-Radius, their Killer Instinct is shown for 3 seconds.

SPECIAL ABILITY: Dream Traps

At the start of the Trial, you start with 7 Dream Tokens. Press and hold the Power button to place Dream Snare or Dream Pallet at an available location. Using a Dream Snare or Dream Pallet removes 1 Dream Token.

SPECIAL ABILITY: Dream Projection

  • Press and hold the Active Ability button to perform a Dream Projection to teleport to a gen.
  • For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by a stack-able 15 %

SPECIAL ABILITY: Dream Transition

  • Press and Hold the Active Ability to put Survivors to sleep with the Dream Transition of 5 seconds.
  • The Dream Transition has a 16-metre Range
  • Your movement speed is reduced to 4.4 m/s
  • When the Dream Transition has elapsed, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World
  • While in the Dream Transition, the Nightmare can Basic Attack the survivors.

Brown

Garden Rake: (new effect)

  • Gain 1 Dream Token

Kid's Drawing: (new effect)

  • All Generators spew blood.
  • Increases the Cool-down of Dream Projection by 10%

Sheep Block: (unchanged)

  • Survivors interacting with a Dream Trap or Dream Pallet suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for 90 seconds.

Wool Shirt: (new effect)

  • Suppresses the appearance of the Husk
  • Lose 1 Dream Token

Yellow

Cat Block: (new effect)

  • Reduces Dream Transition time by 1 second
  • Increases Dream transition range by 8 metres

Green Dress: (buff)

  • Increases Skill Check chances in the Dream World by 20%
  • Increases the Penalty for failing those Skill Checks by -8%
  • The Aura of Survivors failing Repairing or Healing Skill Check are revealed to you for 4 seconds.

Nancy's Sketch: (buff)

  • Reduces the Cool-down duration of Dream Projection by a stackable -5% for each asleep Survivor, up to a maximum of -15%.

Outdoor Rope: (new effect)

  • Increases the Wake-up action penalty by 2 seconds
  • Increases Movement speed while casting Dream Transition by 5%

Prototype Claws: (new effect)

  • Gain 1 Dream Token
  • Reduces the Micro-Sleep Timer by 5 seconds

Green

Blue Dress: (new effect)

  • Survivors interacting with a Dream Trap or Dream Pallet suffer from the Oblivious Status Effect for 30 seconds.

Jump Rope: (new effect)

  • Increases Dream transition range by 12 metres
  • Reduces the Micro-Sleep Timer by 10 seconds

Nancy's Masterpiece: (new effect)

  • Decreases the Cool-down of Dream Projection by 5% for every Asleep Survivor

Paint Thinner: (new effect)

  • Gain 2 Dream Tokens
  • Increases the Killer Instinct by 2 seconds

Unicorn Block: (change)

  • Survivors interacting with a Dream Trap or Dream Pallet suffer from the Oblivious Status Effect for 30 seconds.

Purple

"Z" Block: (buff)

  • Using Dream Projection triggers Killer Instinct for 6 seconds on all Survivors within 16 metres of the Generator you teleported to.
  • Reduces Dream Transition time by 2 seconds

Class Photo: (new effect)

  • All Survivors in the Dream World are in the Oblivious Status Effect

Pill Bottle: (buff)

  • Reduces the Lullaby Radius by 8 metres
  • Reduces the threshold for intermittent invisibility to a range of 8 to 16 metres.
  • Reduces the threshold for full Invisibility to a distance of 16 metres.

This effect also applies when carrying a Survivor.

Swing Chains: (buff)

  • Survivors inside the Dream World suffer from the following effects:
  • Increases the volume of Footsteps of Survivors by +50 %
  • Increases the volume of Grunts of Pain of injured Survivors by +50 %
  • Increases the audible range of their Repair noises by +8 metres

Pink

Black Box: (buff)

  • Blocks opened Exit gates for 15 seconds for Asleep Survivors
  • For every Asleep Survivor the Action Speed breaking Breakable Walls,  Pallets, damaging Generators and vaulting Window increases by 5%

Red Paint Brush: (buff)

  • All Survivors start the Trial asleep.
  • Survivors can no longer wake up by failing a SkillCheck
  • Gain the Ability to teleport at the start of the Trial
