Chapter 31 PTB Feedback
Hey, it looks like I'm a little late on this - the week kind of got away from me - but I figured that I'd still post my feedback on the Chapter 31 PTB.
First of all, I'm glad to see a whole new mechanic in the form of Invocation perks, though it will be interesting to see what happens when a future chapter adds a second Invocation perk.
For the new killer, The Unknown, I played as it, but there was something lacking in the UI: There's nothing to indicate how long the killer has to wait to be able to teleport again. There could stand to be something to indicate to the player how long is left, instead of just knowing that it is or isn't currently possible to teleport.
Also, for one particular add-on: The Notebook of Theories says Hindered for 5 seconds, but the power description doesn't say how long the base Hindered amount is. And is this 5s in addition to the base, or instead of the base? It's not clear in the description.
Speaking of UVX add-ons, there are add-ons that affect the maximum number of hallucinations, but the power description doesn't specify what the base value of that maximum is.
In my own experience, the UVX power (the projectile part of it) was rather frustrating. In particular, it's kind of too easy for survivors to get rid of Weakened, especially compared to the recharge time for the next projectile. I know that a direct hit gives a minor benefit in the form of briefly hindering the survivor, which I suppose sets them up for a melee attack, but I think that I would prefer instead to have a direct hit pause the decreasing of the Weakened status for a time, or even refresh Weakened back to full. Otherwise, if I'm trying to get UVX downs, then it's kind of like I'm being punished for getting direct hits that don't really do anything. Alternatively, maybe this effect (refreshing Weakened on direct hit) could be put into an add-on?
For the Sable Ward perk Strength in Shadows, I noticed that the phrasing doesn't specify that it unlocks self-healing. I presume that it does, since healing others is already part of the game, though I never got a chance to actually find out. Since that's just phrasing, hopefully that can be fixed (or has already been fixed) before it goes live.
As for the other killer changes, I tried out Huntress, and ... yay extra hatchets, though I didn't actually need them. 🤣 For Pig, though, I have a little more: I certainly enjoyed the longer dashes and being able to surprise survivors more often, but I'm not sure if it's worth it at the cost of the nerf to reverse bear traps, at least in terms of timers and such. (I think that no longer being able to see the auras of Jigsaw Boxes is acceptable, though I was never the type to try to disrupt them on purpose, anyway.) I worry that it would make the head-pops even less of a threat than they already are; experienced survivors tend to avoid finishing generators and just get their boxes done as side-work, meaning that the reverse bear-traps are more of a slowdown tool than an actual threat.
just my thoughts on the PTB 🙂
