I want a map killer, and I have some ideas on how it might work.

I've been sitting on this idea for quite awhile now and think it could be pretty neat. Let me know what you think of it or if you have any ideas on how to maybe improve or expand on it.

The killer is the map. Instead of being on the ground chasing, downing, and hooking survivors, you take on the roll of overseer and manipulator, switching from camera to camera, activating various traps to either injure or down survivors. Some traps could be reusable after a short time, and injure, and others could be single use (or just a much longer cooldown) and instadown. After a down, one of two things could happen. Either 1: A hook comes down from the ceiling, drags the downed survivor to a fixed location in the room, and then acts as a normal hook, or 2: A new unique non-hook (a la PH) is introduced, either in the form of a holding cell or a mouth or what have you. If the first option is what BHVR goes with, then the trapped rooms could each have a random chance of being scourge hook rooms should the killer bring any SH perks, if they go option 2 obviously it wouldn't matter then. If gens were still the primary objective, you could get a prompt to kick when you're looking at one through a camera, and you would snuff boons the same way. As for perks, I think quite a few of them would be unusable. The killer wouldn't have a TR, wouldn't be carrying survivors, and windows/pallets are redundant when this isn't a killer that would ever chase. Still, I have a list of potential perk/status effect interactions at the bottom of the post if you're interested.

Now on the survivor side, generators have been stale for years now, and on top of that, doing gens just doesn't make much sense for how this new killer would play, so either a side objective or a totally new primary objective would of course have to be made. If generators are a must have, then the side objective and gen placements should force the survivors around the map, through the trapped areas. It could be "Collect X and go to Y", or "Go activate X", or "Keep X activated". If BHVR were willing (or able) to change the win condition however, then some more interesting and creative ways to escape as well as map/killer design could be toyed around with, although aside from recreating Gmod Deathrun, I don't know what those would be.

Now for the lore, it could either be a fleshy meat abomination that the survivors are stuck inside of or it could be a sadist in a control room somewhere. I'd prefer the former and have been coming up with the killer concept with it in mind, but both could work. If BHVR somehow got the license holders to agree, this could be a good setup for a CUBE chapter, which would be ######### sick.

Anyway, that was my killer map concept. Again, if you have any ideas or criticisms, let me know. I'd be interested in seeing what else could be done or what might not work with my idea. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and now here are some potential perk/status interactions.

  • Exposed: Non-instadown traps instadown
  • Haste/Hindered: Redundant but could be tied to time between switching to a camera and being able to activate traps
  • Chase/Bloodlust: Redundant
  • Undetectable: Redundant
  • Blinded: Could only be blinded by a flashlight, and would function identically to other killers. Switching cams doesn't transfer the blind though.
  • STBFL: Reduces cooldowns of the non-instadown traps. Instadown traps would be considered special attacks.
  • Perks that only work in the TR: Could work within 24 meters of the activated cam

There'd need to be a consistent threat to keep survivors on their toes so to speak, like an AI controlled killer. The perks would work normally for the bot, while the actual "killer" would be the power and add ons would affect the various traps and such.

Gens would probably be a must, but side objects are easily enough thought over (ex this gen is locked till X happens).
