Regarding Ruin and NOED
Why do people say just push through the ruin and disregard the totem meanwhile other people say to break 5 totems to counter NOED? Which one is it? Should I hunt for totems instead of enduring the ruin since either way I need to counter NOED? I think one of these should be changed since it is kind of odd that the counter to both of these is the opposite of the other.

don't know why this needed a new topic, but:
you dont even need to break em all really, just break 1-2 per game, and try to leave the ones that are near exit >gates or any next to the last gen you're working on. That way you can look for it to light up and pop it >immediately.
Alternative strategy is to do the opposite: keep an eye out for the ones NOT near the exit gates, and save them >for endgame. After the last gen pops, go straight to those to check them for the glow. That way its the place >the killer is least likely to be looking (and if they are, someone should be opening the gates for free) and there >you go.
With SWF its obviously very easy to just do them all as a team, but its not impossible or even terribly difficult >to counter as a solo survivor, just gotta be sneaky about it.also To answer the hypothetical, the most logical answer is to work through the ruin, then check totem spawns between gens. Since totem spawns are especially heinous on most maps, this isn't very difficult at all, and its easy to check 2-3 locations just walking between gens, and maybe 1-2 more while in a chase. Some maps do have some absurdly good spawn placements, but they're far less common than them being right next to a gen so its a bit of a moot concern.

You counter hexes by destroying the totem.
Ruin is easier to counter without destroying the totem.
But IF you want to be exposed go ahead. I dont want to so i shall break the totems1 -
It is more complicated than this, especially for solo survivors.
Ruin is easy to do since you only need to find 1 totem and destroy it. Also, there is a notification system that allows you to know when and where the ruin got destroyed if one of your teammates destroyed it. Also you can see the icon on your screen whether you have the curse or not.
You most probably won't be able to find all 5 dull totems and destroy them. Somebody else will destroy 1 or 2 and the entire team will waste time trying to find 5 dull totems without knowing that somebody else destroyed them. Playing around NOED when it is activated is far more easier for solo survivors than breaking the totems. Also, survivors hope that the killer has no NOED, so they don't try to waste their time as well.
My suggestion for you is that you should monitor your teammates and if they can push through ruin, don't try to find the totem. For NOED, if you have time, check the areas that are near to the exit gates and destroy the dull totems. After that, if you find another dull totem, don't destroy it. If the other 2 or 3 dull totems got destroyed, NOED will be lit on that totem and you can always check it later. If the other 2 or 3 dull totems are well hidden, you will have a chance for a much easier NOED spawn. The reason why you should always destroy totems near exit gates is because the game will revolve around those areas and you may never get the chance to destroy the totem. This tactic is especially very useful for maps like the game, lery's and swamp maps.

Its up to you
