PS5 - Vecna spell wheel does not work smoothly

If using the spell wheel on controller, the wheel does not work smoothly.
It feels like there is no deadzone on it, so if you try to flick to spell quickly it may select another as it picks up the first slightest input.
Ive shared a video to show what I mean.
In this video I am only flicking the stick up or down, I am not flicking left or right at all.

Rather than being no deadzone, I feel it is due to it being coded as a circular list
