Buff to totems?

The totem spawns aren't really that good in any maps besides the game, but if there aren't any good spots for hex totems to be placed make an alternative to the totems if a survivor breaks a hex totem all survivors or the survivor who broke the totem randomly loses 1 of their perks so this is a sacrifice for the better good this is if the spawns can't get better I think this is a good alternative.

    No alternatives like what you suggested should be made.

    I believe the true fix for Hex totems is to give them many different possible locations all in very hard to find spots, this would require to add additional spots in maps, but I think it's the only way to make them viable.

    Maybe also change totem textures so that they can blend in better with surroundings so that a survivor actually has to be actively looking for it rather than walks past it and goes "Oh hey, found it without trying"

    My idea would be to not have hex totems automatically appear lit. If the totem is hexed, make it only light up when a Survivor interacts with it. The reason totems generally go so easily is because you can identify them almost instantly, especially on maps like Macmillan. If you see a lit totem during a chase, you know to come back to it, or if you spawn next to one, you know to dismantle it immediately.
    If you were forced to check each totem before you knew it was worth taking a part, it would slow things down a great deal.

    they could also make destroying a totem a dangerous thing, maybe make you exposed for a duration since you just "desecrated" a symbol of the entity's power
