BRING BACK CHAOS SHUFFLE - Would DBD be better if this had always been like this?
I think my title says it all - I understand that BHVR will be bringing this back at some point, but I think it pretty much the top of most fun DBD in recent time. The more I think about it, I even think it's potentially what DBD should have always been - unlock the perks with progress, but assigned at random and then the game can be balanced around powers, and not perks/builds because it's always random…. i.e. survivors sometimes get lithe, sometimes no mither, its random. Killers… sometimes they get pain res, sometimes they get hangman's trick.
The game might actually be in a better place if this was the case.
But - I think it's reason enough to get this back into the game as soon as possible. (please BHVR).

I think the devs are going about it the right way to have limited time modes for these kinds of events. Even a popular one like chaos shuffle. Everything gets stale eventually.
The issue with it being a permanent game mode is that you'd still have a meta develop over time, and not in a healthy way. Even with random perks like CS does, what do you think happens when someone decides to make a new account and only unlock the 4 meta perks? The game can only give them perks they have unlocked, so the 'random' mode becomes identical to normal mode as people do that more. And it would actively punish people for progression.

I honestly thought BHVR couldn't do worse than chaos shuffle.…then they came out with this. It's almost like they want me to hate this game....which I am.

Which can easily be fixed by allowing the game to assign people any perks in the game when playing Chaos Shuffle, regardless of whether they have unlocked a perk or not.

That would fix the meta issue, but that's also specifically not what op said they wanted.
Doesn't change that the game mode would become stale after a while either.

Chaos shuffle didn't take into account which perks any player had unlocked. A new account wouldn't have any difference in perks at all. It's the closest thing to a casual mode we'd be able to get, and a casual mode is something ppl have been begging for forever.

I would make chaos shuffle default modifier and just replace it whenever new modifier is created, or with some old one from time to time.

Well for one, that depends on who you ask as there are people who enjoyed Chaos Shuffle way more than the regular mode all the way through the limited time period it was available for and will most likely still enjoy it more than the regular mode. Secondly, the way to fix something from becoming stale is not only to add modifiers like Chaos Shuffle as a permanent aspect to the game, but in fact adding more than that as the more modes you have to choose from, the less likely something is to becoming stale.

This would probably be the best solution. In their most recent survey they asked about Chaos Shuffle and one option was to make it a permanent mode.
But I just think that making it a permanent mode (without any switches), would result in the mode being empty after a while. Chaos Shuffle was fun for a few weeks, but I dont think I would have enjoyed it much longer.
If it would be the default modifier and then there is something new from time to time which replaces it, I think this would increase the longevity of the mode by a huge amount.

I don't disagree that this is what CS was, but it's very specifically not what the OP was saying:
unlock the perks with progress, but assigned at random
I feel like I'm the only person who actually read the op.

One issue I can think of is basically some people would hate new modifiers from start just because it means losing chaos shuffle, but that should be minority.

Maybe. I'm not at all opposed to them bringing it back, or even making it a regular event.
I support the devs trying new game modes in general, some will be winners (like CS) and some won't. I'm not sure they want to split the player queues into 'normal', 'CS', and 'next new game mode', so we're likely only going to get one modifier at a time, realistically. Otherwise they may not put out new modes quite as often.
