Vecna is clunky on a controller and should use the d-pad
Trying to play Vecna, I do not enjoy bringing up the menu and selecting the spell. I have to use the analog stick to do it, which is imprecise due to its ability to have diagonal input. It would be better if I could use the d-pad.
It would be even better than that if I could use the d-pad to select a spell without opening his menu. Press up to select 'fly,' press left to select 'hand thing,' etc. The d-pad isn't being used for anything else on killers, and on a controller selecting options is never as smooth as it is with a keyboard/mouse.
Lots of games let you use the d-pad to quickly select stuff or scroll through options. This is the perfect opportunity to implement a feature other games have been utilizing for decades.

Your main issue here is if you use the d-pad, you have to take thumb off your movements stick, or take your other hand completely off your aim and buttons in order to reach and press the d-pad input with your right hand thumb. Maybe on PS5 you can get away with claw handing the D-pad with your left hand, but on Xbox this is simply not possible….
In a game like DBD ensuring you keep moving is extremely important, otherwise you lose distance just selecting your spells, which you simply can't afford.
Maybe something could be added on top of the existing system to allow you to bind buttons for Vecna powers… PC players I'm sure would love being able to bind and tap 1, 2,3 4, for the different powers… but the standard mechanism has to stay either way.

I wasn't trying to take away anything, just add more options.
I lose a lot of time and distance opening the spell screen and trying to select the spell I want (which, because of the analog stick's diagonal input usually takes more than one attempt at selecting the correct thing). The option to use just the d-pad without opening the spell screen would make Vecna a lot more playable for me. As is, I finished his achievements and am not encouraged to touch him again.
I play a lot of games where you have to change a weapon or something in the middle of the action, and that requires taking your thumb off the analog stick for a moment and quickly tapping a direction on the d-pad. Works wonderfully for me. Again, the option to use either the spell screen or the d-pad according to the player's preference would be wonderful, and it shouldn't be difficult to add.
